Today we did some “word work” with the list of terms and devices you need to be familiar with by the end of the year. You should have a list of terms that you feel comfortable using, and then another list of terms that feel foreign. We are creating word cards so that you can begin learning these new terms. Here’s one I bet was new to many of you,
cacophony: harsh sounds, sounds out of harmony, unmelodeous sounds – deafening alarm bells -sometimes created in poetry through clashing consonants
Lewis Carroll uses cacophony in his famous poem Jabberwocky…
‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Next class we will work on our terms a bit more, and thenwe will head to the computer lab to become familiar with our blogs.
