I hope everyone had a great “May Long” (not sure I like this shortened version – is it really that hard to say May long weekend?) I finished reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton – awesome! book by the way, and started reading The 11th Hour by James Patterson – my secret indulgence reading, LOL. I am also reading Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli – it is on the grade 8 curriculum but I have never read it – really interesting point of view for a Holocaust/WWII book.
Today in class we had our first Lit Circle meetings. You can find a copy of the agenda on the handouts page. I will remind you that you will only get as much out of the Lit Circles as you put in. The more discussion you generate with your group, the more rewarding the experience will be – it will also make the writing assignments that much easier as you will have more material to write about.
Some people are already not keeping up with their reading commitments – this causes problems in the group, so you need to make time for reading 🙂
Our next Lit Circle meeting is May 30th. Don’t forget that you should each have a “role” for this next meeting. Please come prepared.
