I was away today but I know you were probably excited to have Ms. Campbell for the day 🙂
After silent reading you headed to the computer lab to begin looking for connections to the short stories and poem that we read. Again, I encourage you to consider your connections carefully. This is not a race, but a chance for you to “enjoy the journey.” Consider a newspaper article about a good Samaritan, a song about choosing the “right” path, or an essay on career choices. The more interesting your connections, the more interesting your thoughts on them will be.
I have posted a copy of the assignment on the handouts page.
Next class we will evaluate our progress, but you are reminded that this assignment should be completed and posted to your blog by the end of class on Friday, October 12th.
Today we read Invitations by Carol Shields, and The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. We then had a discussion about choices and how they are influenced. Your next assignment is going to be to find two more connections to the short stories – Invitations, and The Three Questions – and the poem. You will post these connections on your blog page. They can be a story, a poem, a movie, a book, a piece of art…. You will then discuss your connections and how everything relates.
If you were away for this class you will need to see me to get a copy of the story, the poem, and the assignment.
Just a reminder – only one of the students going on the Drama field trip checked in with me to let me know she would be absent. I wish all of you had done the same, hint, hint…
